2. Hazards identification

Potential health effects
This product is not considered hazardous if general standards for industrial hygiene are respected.
Processing and using the flock can produce fibre fly, to avoid the risk of inhalation reduce potential exposure.
Some individuals, e.g.with asthma or bronchitis or similar respiratory sensivity, may be intolerant to high concentrations of fibre in air.
If particles contact the eye, mechanical irritation may result.

Specific Hazards
Accumulated fibres can lead to a fire hazard.

Cut fibres (flock) / air mixtures may be explosive within a concentration limits in sufficiently high ignition energies (class ST 1).

To work in a safety way, users of flock in electrostatic installation may pay attention to German norms BGI 764 (ZH 1/169) and European regulations EN 50223 and EN 50050.

Unsuitable   water, in the presence of uninterrupted electrical installations

Dangerous products of combustion
In case of fire, toxic gases depending of temperature and oxygen availability are produced:  carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, organic decomposition products.

Protection of fire-fighters
In the case of fire fighting in enclosed spaces, respiratory equipment must be used.

6. Accidental release measures

The product is not a dangerous substance, remove it using a vacuum cleaner and/or a shovel or sweep it up.

7. Handling and storage

- Take precaution measures against static discharges
- Avoid sparks.

- Protect the flock from extreme weather conditions.
In case of low temperatures (< 5 ºC) we suggest to expose the flock at 20-22ºC of temperature and a 50-60% of relative humidity for 2 hours (at least), before using it in the flocking machine.
- Keep away from  fire and ignition sources
- Cool and dry places are recommended

Product conditioned within adapted and recyclable packing wooden pallets, carton box with polyethylene bag or polypropylene bag.

8. Exposure control / personal protection

- Respect general rules for industrial safety and hygiene.
- Avoid fibre fly by aspiration and ventilation
- Pick up the flock on place
